As you may have been aware, one of the State election promises made by the Liberal Party was a commitment to move Year 7 into High School in SA, this aligns us with all the other States and Territories.
While I was away, an email arrived informing me that Dr Caroline Croser-Barlow, has been appointed the program director for the year 7 transition program.
Caroline comes to us from the Department for Environment and Water, where, as Group Executive Director People & Performance, she led more than 150 people to deliver professional corporate services to the department.
Caroline has had a diverse public service career across areas such as renewable energy, climate change, and international defence policy. She brings strong communications and engagement skills, as well as a focus on excellence in delivery, to this significant program.
She will start in her new role in Department for Education on Thursday 14 June 2018.
The transition of year 7 from primary school to high school will bring South Australia in line with the other states.
Part of the work involved will be developing a statewide implementation plan and individual plans for each school with a proposed timeline of 2020.
School leaders, parents, students, staff and other stakeholders will be consulted during the transition process. The Governing Council will be the school body that will communicate via this process so if you have any feedback please approach one of our friendly members.
